DFT Floating Hydroponics

Deep flow technique is a type of hydroponic gardening where plants are planted in shallow beds, and a nutrient solution is constantly flowed over and around the root zones of the plants. The system is ideal for plants without deep root systems, and plants that have quick grow cycles. As the nutrient solution flows away from the plant roots for short periods of time, deep flow technique is more suitable for plants that tolerate or benefit from slightly drying out between waterings. Deep flow technique is commonly used in aquatic crops to ensure that aquatic crops receive the adequate nutrients. Often used in flooded, wet, warm environments, the deep flow technique has been shown to be particularly beneficial to watercress, rice, and water chestnut plants. This technique is also used in regions where it is impossible or difficult to grow fresh and leafy vegetables.

Floating hydroponics is a type of DFT, which is used for vegetable planting at moment. It is composed of nutrient solution tank, planting plate, nutrient solution pool, nutrient circulation system, etc. The nutrient solution tank is usually plastic plate of hot galvanized plate.

    About DFT Floating Hydroponics

    DFT(Deep flow technique) is the most primitive method of hydroponic system, which refers to a hydroponic technique in which the root system of the plant grows in a deeper and flowing nutrient layer. The planting tank is filled with about 5 to 10 cm and sometimes even more profound nutrient sour, placing the root system of the crop in it, while using the water pump intermittently to open the supply fluid to make the nutrient liquid circulate flow, to supplement the oxygen in the nutrient solution and make the nutrients in the nutrient solution more uniform.

    This kind of cultivation of nutrient sour layer nutrient seifrom is relatively stable, but also solves the difficulty that the nutritional liquid culture system needs power failure can not function properly.

    DFT(Deep flow technique) is a type of hydroponic gradening where plants are plated in shallow beds,and a nutrient solution is constantly flowed over and around the root zones of plants.

    The characteristics of deep liquid water culture technology

    • 1. Deep
    • Deep refers to the planting tank itself containing the nutrient solution itself is deep, and the nutrient fluid layer in the planting tank is deep.
      Root system can be extended into a deeper nutrient solution, the total amount of nutrients in the whole planting system is more, the composition of the nutrient solution, concentration (including the concentration of various nutrients, total salt concentration and dissolved oxygen concentration in the nutrient solution), acidity, moisture and temperature, etc. are not easy to produce sharp changes, the root system growth environment is relatively stable, nutrition supplement and adjustment is convenient This is a significant feature of deep fluid water training technology.
    • 2. Flow
    • (1) Increase the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the nutrient solution;
      (2) eliminate the "nutrient depletion area" between the root table and the extra-root nutrient liquid when the nutrient fluid is kept, so that nutrition is supplied to the root table in a timely manner;
      (3) To reduce harmful metabolites secreted by the root system and accumulate on the root table, such as organic acids, physiological acids and alkalineness produced by the absorption of the root system to the selection of ions, and other metabolites;
      (4)To re-dissolve certain nutrients that fail due to precipitation and supply crop growth needs.

    • 3. Suspended
      Suspension refers to the hanging of a plant plant planted on top of the surface of the nutrient fluid, with the aim of:
      (1) Keep the root neck away from the liquid surface and prevent the root neck from being immersed in the nutrient solution and causing decay or even death (except for bog plants or crops with oxygen-inductive tissue from the ground to the ground);
      (2) Improve the oxygen supply of the root system: part of the root system can be extended into the nutrient solution to grow, while the other root part is exposed to the nutrient liquid surface between the fixed plate or the fixed mesh frame of the part of the moist air, so that the nutrient solution and the root system in the air can absorb oxygen, Adjust the fluid layer depth of the nutrient solution and the amount of space between the liquid surface and the fixed plate or the fixed mesh frame according to the crop's growth and climatic conditions to regulate the absorption of oxygen from the root system.
